Uber offers NHS staff free rides and food over Christmas

Uber is spreading some Christmas cheer amongst NHS staff over the festive period, by offering them free rides and meals.

As a way to thank NHS staff who have worked tirelessly through a pandemic and are now facing working over the Christmas break, Uber will be offering two free £10 rides. There’s also a £10 meal voucher on offer for staff within the NHS.

The offer is available for anyone who has an NHS or HSC email address. Staff need to ensure that they have an Uber account linked to their work email. A promo code will then be sent which can be added to their Uber account.

Andrew Brem, general manager for the UK and Ireland at Uber, said: “Our brilliant NHS has seen us through a pandemic and now thousands of staff will be working through Christmas.

“We want to make sure that travel is one less thing to worry about this Christmas by offering a free ride to and from work.”

The Uber and Uber Eats codes can be redeemed for trips and orders on 24 and 25 December 2022. Promotional codes will be emailed to eligible users as we get closer to these dates.

The company has previous form in supporting the NHS. During the covid pandemic it launched Uber Medics, which saw it fund heavy discounts for frontline workers during the lockdowns.

It has also provided free rides and meals for young people in partnership with the government’s campaign to encourage them to receive their Covid vaccinations.

Uber’s Christmas-time NHS campaign was first launched six years, offering some much-deserved help to NHS staff who delay their own celebrations in order to care for others.

NHS staff can claim their free rides and food by visiting here and entering their official NHS email address.
